I put a record on and I pull up a chair I drop the needle in the locked groove And I watch it spin That's how I like to spend my time Doing nothing with no one Day after day, year after year I become more akin to static and pops I've been stuck in a locked groove for my whole life But I'll be free on the day The needle grinds straight through To the slipmat

I am hiding in the house Someone’s coming through the gate When the doorbell sounds like an air-raid siren I am lying in wait People used to come around They fish-eyed and they rubber-necked Anyone who’d come to visit now Is automatically a suspect I creep up to the window Me and my buzzing brain And we watch two Jehovah's witnesses Retreating down the lane I’m not coming out yet It’s too cold Leave me alone ‘til I learn How to spin straw into gold I put on night-vision goggles Work my way along the wall into the kitchen As soon as the first snow fell this year My finger’s started itching And I locked up the doors And I sealed up all the windows And friends came by sometimes for a while I never let’em in though And then they stopped, and then they stopped at last And now it’s just us three These walls and the church of jesus christ Of the latter-day saints and me

I know you will not be my cause of death Not today at least Not for the rest of the year But you'll claim my body slowly You'll start with my teeth and blood You'll whittle my bones to nothing Til I'm just dust on the ground You can't fool me, I know what you're up to You can't tempt me, I don't need you You can't tempt me anymore I don't need you anymore

I need a girl with problems that doesn't want problems And a brain as broken as mine I want love like lava that makes my heart go, "la-la" But I just lay around and act fuckin lame I sound sad and really depressed But if I put all of that to rest, Then that cup would fill and fill until it spilled over into my every day life Making me jaded and making me frozen I know I get that way when winter comes knocking But I don't want even day for me and those around me to be toxic So I sing about how everything sucks even though it doesn't really suck that much I'm just bored In a small town with not much going on And a lot of the people I used to have fun with are not around anymore But I guess that's okay

24 years old, I've been in Poplar Grove my whole life. Since I was 4 years old I've been looking for a knife To cut myself free of this time. Just to see some nice people around. Lend a helping hand to carry me on Well, I'll wrap myself in a seatbelt in the passenger seat of my best friends car. We've been driving for hours. We don't know where we're going or where we are. But that wont stop us from smiling. And if our phones weren't dead the world would have photos to prove it. Now I'm 25 years old. I've been in Poplar Grove my whole life. Since I was 4 years old I've been looking for a knife To cut myself free of this town. But that wont stop me from smiling. If my phone wasn't the world would have photos to prove it. Photos to prove it.

I am just a human being. Just a human being. Just a human being considerate and helpful. I blame my empathy for ruining my good mood. Trying to mean what I say And say what I mean. Trying to stop hiding in my house , I wanna go outside and play. Play like when we were five or six, seven, or eight. Just being human beings. Just being human beings. Just humans being adorable and playful, creative, and fun. But then we grew up, We had to wake up. All that they said to us was that we had to man up. And by that they meant we had to follow their rules. Number one: Boys be boys, Number two: Girls be girls. Now we all lose, just being human beings.

about

Shaking Dog Tapes Poplar Grove, Illinois

Shaking Dog Tapes is a DIY shithole aiming to bring ambient, noise, power electronics, grindcore, chiptune, and all the fuckin' absurdity, horror, and fun in between, right up to the table and give you some silverware. (Sorry if you're a chopsticks person.) Starting off primarily dealing with CD-Rs due to irony, and monetary deficiencies. ... more
